TAMEK, the most established food company in Turkey, was awarded with great prize within the scope of "Energy Efficiency in Industry Project Competition (EEIPC)", thanks to the energy efficiency provided by its production. Cem Kurt, General Manager of TAMEK, who succeeded in reducing energy density by 66.9 % in two years, received the prize from Fatih Dönmez, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
The Ministry of Energy, which awarded the companies that provide energy efficiency in the industry, announced the companies that will award in the 17th Energy Efficiency in Industry Project Competition organized this year. TAMEK, succeeding in reducing the energy density by 66.9 % between 2015 and 2017, was awarded in the first rank in the category of food products manufacturers.
The Ministry of Energy, acting with the policy of announcement and promotion of successful projects to increase energy efficiency, organizes Energy Efficiency in Industry Project Competition (EEIPC) every year in order to discover, promote and disseminate energy efficiency and environmentally friendly projects and technologies applied by industrial enterprises, to increase information exchange between industrial enterprises and to encourage new and similar studies on energy efficiency.
Energy Savings of 66.9% in Two Years
TAMEK, succeeding to reduce energy efficiency by 66.9 % within two years, was elected as the best company in the food sector within the competition in the category of Energy- Efficient Industrial Facility ( EEIF). General Manager of Tamek named Cem Kurt, receiving the award at the ceremony held in the scope of 8th Energy Efficiency Forum on behalf of TAMEK from Fatih Dönmez, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said, "We as Tamek have been developing a number of projects since 2015 so as to reduce our energy use. We are aware that the basis of a sustainable life depends on the sustainable sources and we determine our business policies accordingly. In 2017 and 2018, we will produce more with less energy by realizing our nearly 30 projects that aim to further reduce energy density."
The way of savings depends on the effective use of available resources
TAMEK, which provides 66.9 % energy savings within two years, has achieved more efficiency with less energy by handling energy resources as well as reducing energy costs through energy efficiency studies and productivity increasing projects realized with TUBITAK (Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council). First of all, TAMEK constructed training and project plans with its employees in four factories located in Bursa, Balıkesir, Manisa and Cyprus where production was made, starting from the Holding building in Istanbul, Ulus. In order to increase the energy efficiency in the process, it carried out the projects so as to obtain successful business results related to heat insulation in production facilities, use of low-pressure air in compressed air systems, the correct use of lighting in production areas, minimization of the energy use of production lines and auxiliary operating equipment with added automation systems, correct production planning and upgrading of production line efficiencies; accordingly, 66.9 % of energy saving was realized.
Tamek, which has been bringing its consumers together with high-quality and delicious products since 1955 is presenting its entire product line on May 8-10, at Food West Africa in Nigeria. In Africa, Tamek already exports its products to North Africa (mainly to Libya) and to Guinea, Djibouti, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Gabon.
Tamek, which has been bringing its consumers together with high-quality and delicious products since 1955 is also in the Middle East among the popular brands. Actively exporting its products to 11 countries in the regon including Iraq, Qatar and Libya, Tamek has increased its exports to the Middle East by 30 percent in 2017 compared to the previous year. The expected export growth for 2018 is above 20 percent.
